We do not charge the campers to attend camp.  As always, we have raised the funds to cover all the costs so that we can operate this camp without charging any fee.

• THE NEED

  On any given day, approximately 700 children are in foster care in Ventura County. This number has significantly decreased over the past few years. County representatives have recognized the important role organizations such as James Storehouse have played in supporting children and families in our community.

  • Approximately 35,000 children and youth are in foster care in Los Angeles County, according to current statistics published by James Storehouse.

  • Approximately 400,000 children and youth are in foster care across the United States.

  • Approximately 20,000 young people age out of foster care each year in the United States.

  THE CHALLENGES

  Children and youth who experience foster care face significantly increased risks of:

  • Homelessness and housing instability

  • Unemployment and financial hardship

  • Educational challenges

  • Teen pregnancy

  • Trauma and mental-health challenges

  • Commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking

  Youth involved in the child-welfare system are recognized as particularly vulnerable to human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, especially when they experience placement instability, running away, homelessness, or other traumatic circumstances.

  Of the young people who age out of foster care:

  • Approximately 1 in 5 experience homelessness.

  • Within four years of leaving foster care, about half have no reported earnings, while those who are employed have reported very low average annual earnings.

  • Only a small percentage go on to earn a college degree.

  WHY TRAC MATTERS

  Behind every statistic is a child who needs to know that they are seen, valued, loved, and worth investing in.

  TRAC provides foster and at-risk youth with a safe environment where they can:

  • Build healthy relationships with trusted adults

  • Experience belonging and acceptance

  • Develop confidence and life skills

  • Discover their God-given value and purpose

  • Experience a positive community where they can simply be kids

  • Connect with caring adults who can encourage them beyond camp through TRAClife Mentorship

  Our goal is not simply to give a child three days at camp. Our goal is to give them hope, connection, and relationships that can make a lasting difference in their lives.
